Marshall Intern Credentialing Program

Location: Redwood City, CA

Intern Credentialing Program

(Multiple Locations)

The Marshall Teacher Residency is expanding to offer an intern pathway for school employees to earn a Single Subject teaching credential. The intern program builds on the Marshall Teacher Residency’s approach to educator preparation, developed in partnership with the Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning and Equity, to bring together student-centered instruction and anti-racist pedagogy to create learning environments that serve the whole child and meet the need of each individual student. Over the course of two years, interns serve as teachers of record while completing credentialing coursework and training.

Join us! We are currently accepting applications for the pilot year of the program, launching in June 2025.

As a Marshall Intern, you will:

  • Engage in Values-Aligned Credentialing Coursework: Starting with a summer intensive and continuing throughout the school year, you’ll gather with a diverse cohort of interns to master the credentialing coursework. Led by expert faculty, coursework is project-based and immediately applicable to your classroom and students. The instruction you’ll receive reflects our core values, including deep self-reflection, culturally responsive teaching methods, and conversations about equity and inclusion.

  • Serve as a Teacher of Record: Intern teachers serve as full-time teachers of record for two years while completing the requirements for a California Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential. As a full-time teacher of record, you'll receive a salary and benefits from your employer.

  • Mentoring and Collaboration: You’ll benefit from multiple levels of support on your journey, including 1:1 mentoring, in-classroom coaching, and a connected community of peers. You will examine how theory from the coursework applies to what’s happening in your classroom. You’ll receive personalized support through coaching and mentorship. And, you’ll learn from other interns’ experiences across different school sites while building a professional network.

To apply, you must:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university

  • Be eligible to work in the United States

  • Be employed as a full-time teacher of record at a Marshall Teacher Residency partner school in the San Francisco Bay Area

  • Have prior experience as a full time teacher of record, long-term substitute, and/or an instructional aide

It is our priority to recruit a diverse cohort of intern teachers. People from all backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Be a part of the next generation of diverse educators, impacting students and shaping the future of education. Apply today!
