Manager of Data Analysis

Summit Public Schools is seeking a Manager of Data Analysis to transform data into insights for the organization. This role will lie on Summit’s Information Team.

This role will lead innovative data-focused projects to help advance the state of education in our schools in partnership with our teachers and school leaders. This position will build on top of Summit’s world-class data infrastructure to draw insights and create data tools that directly impact the student and teacher experience. Summit seeks to scale our impact by sharing our innovative work nation-wide, so your work will not only impact Summit’s students, but will also serve as a model for the rest of the country.

This is a full-time, grant-funded position for a one-academic-year term, with the possibility of extension contingent on future funding.

What You’ll Do:

Data Tool Development

  • Design and build data-focused tools that help stakeholders across the network make decisions, plan interventions, and continuously improve their practice, with a focus on equity

  • Build upon existing dashboards and recurring reports, and help expand the types of data and analyses available to the team

  • Listen to stakeholders to identify current data needs, reading between the lines to understand the core need behind a problem and deliver an efficient solution

  • Become a leading expert on the data in particular domains, such as special education, multilingual learners, multi-tiered systems of supports, or improvement science

Communication and Collaboration

  • Select and utilize appropriate tools and techniques to design and produce user-friendly, reliable visualizations

  • Communicate findings and their implications to a variety of audiences, clearly and concisely, in a variety of formats

  • Produce findings that have a clear impact on important decisions

  • Collaborate with teammates proactively to push projects towards their goals

Research and Analysis

  • Select and utilize appropriate research methods and analysis tools to produce high-quality, reliable findings and metrics

  • Work with other members of the Information team to develop research questions and testable hypotheses to assess the impact of interventions and find ways to improve them

  • Contribute to research project planning by defining a scope that balances real needs with realistic timelines and breaking down ideas into actionable tasks

What You Need:

Key Qualities and Skills

  • Commitment to uphold Summit’s values, belief that all children deserve a rigorous and equitable education that prepares them for college and for life.

  • Professional experience in quantitative data management, analysis, interpretation, and presentation

  • Experience with SQL and BI Tools or other related technologies and a desire to learn more

  • Empathy for the users of data and strength in listening and communication

  • Strong project management skills and a knack for process

  • A strong desire to use data to help people make smart decisions, and experience doing so

  • Proficiency in Google Platforms, including Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred, but not required. Those who lack a college degree but have relevant training or professional experience are encouraged to apply.

You and your dependents will have access to multiple health, dental, and vision plans at 25% cost (we cover the other 75%) and employee life and disability insurance at no cost. Our compensation policy strives to be equitable and transparent. The salary for this position starts at $95,325 and goes up to $112,770 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
